Mount Perry just over an hours drive from Bargara. Once a thriving Copper Mining Town compared to today it’s a small village belong the Mountains full of charm, the lookout over the Mountains you could just float away. Then make your way to the Boolboonda Tunnel which is now a Heritage Listed disused Rail Tunnel. At 192 metres long, it is the longest man-made unsupported Tunnel in Queensland.

Rising to 703m above sea level in the Coastal Range, Mount Walsh National Park is a rugged park with spectacular exposed granite outcrops and cliffs. The Bluff area of Mount Walsh, at the park’s northern end, is a prominent landmark in the Biggenden area approx 1.5 hours drive from Bargara.

Just a short drive from Bargara you will find Barolin Rocks, but it’s what is under the surface of the water that will interest most. It is one of the few places you can access the Southern Great Barrier Reef from the shore. Snorkel or dive - be sure to take care and not harm the reef and only attempt to do so when weather conditions are appropriate. No lifeguards Patrol these waters.

Just a 10 minute drive from Bargara is Innes Park. Another fantastic place to explore and cool off at the outlet of Palmer Creek to the Ocean.

The world famous stretch of sand just outside Bargara which supports over half of the threatened population of the Loggerhead Turtle. Nesting starts in mid November with Hatchlings emerging from January through to end of March. Booking Tickets to witness this amazing life cycle experience is a must along with Accomodation given both book out very fast.

Elliot Heads beautiful clear waters and sandy beach. A short walk at low tide you also can explore some Ocean Rock Pools full of Soft Coral & Fish.

The Basin is a well known bathing area in beautiful Bargara. It’s a pool that was built many years ago out of the local volcanic rocks by the Kanakas from the South Pacific. Today it’s popular with kids with snorkels feeding the fish that enter between the high & low tide. Here’s a Sunday afternoon swim out the back behind the basin on the 26th of May 2019 just days out from winter and still able to swim in shorts, rash shirt, mask, snorkel and basic underwater camera. Very calm conditions with only a small amount of wave motion moving some of the white sand that sits behind the basin around at times. Numerous species of fish, rays and even some corals. All this just 10 mins walk down the road.
